Our knowledgeable hosts and tour guides will introduce you to an exquisite selection of our handcrafted, home-grown gins, each of which have been infused with a symphony of flavours that reflect the spirit of Scotland. Gin Tour Gifting

We are currently not offering an option to buy Gift Certificates due to building work scheduled for the Garden to improve the Visitor Experience. But will restore this option once the work schedule has been planned and dates confirmed.

On our tours, you will learn about the array of botanicals that go into our gins, visit our newly-built on-site drying room and glasshouse, before tasting our four core gins in our refurbished Distillery Tasting room. In addition, the Alchemy Experience lets you make your own 20cl gin to take home.

Please note that these are public tours, up to 16 people per tour. For larger groups or private tours, please email info@secretgardendistillery.co.uk.

If you have a designated driver then book them on the tour and they will be given a sample gin to take-away.

All in all, our gin tours last no longer than 2 hours. This includes the full tour, plus tastings.

What Should I Expect from the Gin Tour?

Our gin tours allow you to fully experience the process of our gin making. It all starts in our beautiful Secret Garden, where you'll be shown exactly how our botanicals and other ingredients are freshly grown. Then, you'll be shown our distillery, where the real magic happens. Our expert distillers will show you how we take our fresh ingredients from the garden, and turn them into the gin's you know and love. Finally to top it all off, the tour will end with some gin tasting, where you'll be able to enjoy a sip of some of your favourite gin flavours. A fantastic experience for all gin lovers!

The gin we produce is rooted in nature, containing various botanicals such as juniper berries, coriander seeds, winter savory leaf, and Angelica root. Why is Gin so popular in Scotland?

The popularity of gin, particularly in Scotland, can be traced back to it’s historical roots. Back in the early 18th century, the British government imposed very high taxes on imported spirits such as French brandy, in order to protect the domestic industry. Due to it’s cheaper price, this led to a sudden rise in the production of gin in England. From here, gin quickly spread to Scotland. Scotland’s abundant supply of juniper berries (a key ingredient in Gin), made it an ideal location for Gin production.

What Should I Wear to a Distillery Tour?

Comfortable Shoes: We recommend you wear comfortable and sturdy shoes, as you may be walking on uneven surfaces, or standing for an extended period of time.

Weather-appropriate Clothing: As our beautiful secret garden is located outside in a rural area, be sure to check the weather forecast on the day of your tour and dress accordingly. In warm weather, wear lightweight and breathable clothing, and in cold weather, wear warm layers and a waterproof jacket.

Accessories: Bring a hat or sunglasses for our outdoor tour, and consider bringing a small backpack or bag to carry any samples or souvenirs you may purchase during the tour of our Secret Garden!
