The coming of Spring brings hope and promise as snowdrops wave goodbye and dandelions re-emerge. An awakening is happening, energy levels are rising and the excitement of the light to come fills the soul.
Nature is busy at work; her wonders transform in front of our very eyes. The changing of the seasons is upon us and what better way to celebrate than with our new Seasonal Edition Spring Gin.
We lovingly craft this gin, in honour of two of Spring’s magical delights; Dandelion and Honey.
The Dandelion is one of the first plants to flower and they are an important food source for insects and honeybees. They represent the whole universe in one plant: the yellow head represents the sun, the seed head represents the moon and the seeds, when blown, the stars. And to think most people think this marvellous plant is a weed! Research has shown that dandelions have antiviral and antibacterial properties which can help boost the immune system; ancient apothecaries would also use a dandelion tincture to reduce inflammation. We use it for the simple reason that it tastes delicious, though; if ever a plant tasted like Spring it would be this one.
Spring is also the busiest time of year for bees, not only because they are re-stocking their food stores but also, because this is the time when new colonies are started, and established colonies re-emerge. This is just the start of the bee’s busy journey to help pollinate our wonderous world.
