The Manhattan Whisky Cocktail made with Secret Garden Distillery's sweet Vermouth Rosso a new premium aperitif made from the Pinot Noir Grapes and Mugwort grown their Edinburgh Distillery glasshouse

The Manhattan Whisky Cocktail with a Scottish twist

A Manhattan is whisky cocktail and we've included it here because we are using the Secret Garden Distillery sweet Vermouth Rosso made from our Pinot Noir grapes from harvested from our Glasshouse and mugwort from our Edinburgh Distillery Garden. We also up the Scottish element by encouraging you to use a beautiful single malt Scottish whisky rather than the original American rye whiskey and serving on the rocks.

Ingredients:

Once you've got your ingredients;

  1. Stir over ice, strain
  2. Rocks Glass, Large ice cube
  3. Garnish: a brandied maraschino cherry (or a lemon twist if you prefer)

Popular history suggests that the drink originated at the Manhattan Club in New York in the mid-1870s, where it was invented for a banquet hosted by Winston Churchill's mother Jennie Jerome in honour of a presidential candidate Samuel Tilden. The success of the banquet made the drink fashionable, later prompting several people to request the drink by referring to the name of the club where it originated—"the Manhattan cocktail".
